CAPTEX Family,
Thank you for your patience as we worked through the business ramifications and logistics of wrapping up the COVID-19 shortened season. This is an unprecedented time and hopefully something that we can all recover from someday.
Unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we must announce that CAPTEX Volleyball will NOT be offering a Club team option for any age group for the upcoming season. We have worked through so many alternatives to not offering a team option, but, in the end, we feel it's the best short term plan. Our decision was based on the health and safety of ourselves, coaches, players and families, business solvency and the number of unknowns and risks moving into the Fall that we don't control.
Due to the recent business decision we will also not be holding summer camps, clinics or tryouts this summer. We are working to come up with an alternative to Club volleyball between now and when we see an opportunity to get back in the game. Many Coaches are available for private or small group lessons and a link to their contact information is on our Programs website.
We are heartbroken having to make this decision and it did not come easily.
It has been an honor and a pleasure to offer a program that meets the needs of so many great players, parents and coaches over the years and we hope to come back in the future stronger than today.
I know that many people are interested in Summer Camp and Clinic schedules and registration status. Out of an abundance of caution and business exposure we have decided to NOT host Summer Camps and Clinics at this time. We understand that this can cause some frustration and confusion and we apologize for the late notice. We are working through next steps for the 2020-2021 season and will have an update out late next week.
USA Volleyball is extending the elimination of sanctions for all USA Volleyball activities (including but not limited to events, practices, team activities, individual training sessions or anything covered by USA Volleyball insurance) through May 22, 2020.
USA Volleyball is extending the elimination of sanctions for all USA Volleyball activities (including but not limited to events, practices, team activities, individual training sessions or anything covered by USA Volleyball insurance) through May 8, 2020.
Following several communications with the USOPC, the U.S. Center for SafeSport, and our insurance providers, USA Volleyball has received permission to sanction virtual training/coaching/instruction/meetings during this period of sanction suspension. Any virtual training/coaching/instruction/meetings involving minors are subject to requirements of MAAPP, specifically the regulations on electronic communications and one-on-one interactions. These requirements include the following:
To be clear, virtual training/coaching/instruction/meetings will only be considered sanctioned so long as the above requirements are followed.
USA Volleyball has been asked by local clubs whether such ban applies to club activities covered under the club’s own (non-USA Volleyball) insurance. In these situations, USA Volleyball strongly encourages all member clubs and coaches to adhere to USA Volleyball’s policies. However, should a club decide to voluntarily disregard those policies and assume all risks associated therewith, we recommend that the club adhere to CDC; local, state and federal guidelines and recommendations when deciding whether or not to host practices or individual training sessions. If a club does host practice or individual training sessions, those activities would be considered a non-sanctioned activity by USA Volleyball and thus NOT covered by USA Volleyball insurance.
The health and welfare of our membership, volleyball families and fellow citizens is our primary concern in all decisions we are making during these uncharted times.
USA Volleyball is monitoring the situation daily and will continue to provide updates on a regular basis.
ALL LSR (Lone Star Region) EVENTS CANCELED UNTIL APRIL 30TH. Local schools closed through May 4th.
USAV is extending the cancellations through April 15th.
We are following the guidance and recommendations of the CDC, WHO and USAV (Our National governing body) in regards to all things COVID-19 related. Facility decisions by City of Round Rock (RRSC) and RRISD (Cedar Valley MS and Hernandez MS) will drive our ability to practice and play.
Information and communications change on an hourly basis and we do not have the resources to respond to every inquiry regarding all things normal Club Volleyball related. In order to get you the most updated info, we will be posting communications that we receive from governing bodies to our website and refer all our members to here for what we know at this time.
In general, here is what we know at this point:
1. All practices, tournaments, private lessons and any Club gatherings are cancelled through Friday April 3rd. Some tournaments have been cancelled past that date and will be marked as cancelled on our calendars.
2. We do not know the extent of refunds or reductions in payments. This will have to be determined after all the changes have been made. Our guess is that we will get some refunds and some not.
3. Summer Camps and Clinics have been scheduled and are posted on our website under PROGRAMS. Tryout dates have been identified but we are pending approvals of the facility (delayed due to current environment).
We changed our name so that we can grow into other markets (Boys teams, Adult teams, Sand and others) in the future. For the next year, we will keep our ATX name with CAPTEX. Starting next season, we will drop the ATX and just be CAPTEX going forward.
